Pure Bliss!!

She jumped with ecstasy as she kept down her phone. She could not believe her ears. “Is this true? Did I hear the right words? Is this a dream? Or am I really living this bliss?” These thoughts were teeming in her mind. She pinched herself. “Awweee…hehe…yes yes….its true….its trueeeee!!” She shouted with joy. She picked up her phone again to call him. But before it could ring, she disconnected. “Not this way!!” she thought and smiled to her herself. She just could not stop smiling and giggling. She felt like shouting and telling this to the whole world. It was her moment of utmost happiness. “I must reach home before him. Awwwee…this is so so special!! Thank you soooo much God!” she hurried home. She wanted to tell this to him quickly. It was difficult to wait for even a second. But she somehow controlled herself. She wanted to tell him in the most special way.

Just then her phone buzzed. It was him. “Hello....hiii honey…was thinking about you only…awweee…I know I know….hehe…..umm…no..dont come to pick me up at office….i am on my way, just about to reach home…..quite early…ya it is….no…umm…just like that….yaa..umm…yup I am smiling…hehe….and ya I am excited…..hmmm…yaa…something something….no….when you reach home….no no…I am not saying anything now……hehe…nooo!! Nothing now….please please…. I am waiting for you….come soooon….I love you too!!” she kept down the phone smiling and blushing. “Ohhh…I love you..I love you..I love you….a million times!!” she said to herself.

“What can it be?? Some special day today? No…I remember all! Umm…what then! Should I call again and ask….no…she wont tell! How will I wait…five hours still to go home!” he was left all confused. This was not the first time she was about to give him a surprise. He loved her surprises, when she did little things in her very own special way. But he was left confused and restless whenever he got a hint earlier, like today. “Ahh…waitinggg!” he smiled to himself. It was around eight in the night when he finally reached home. At the main door, he found a red heart shaped placard decorated with rose petals. It read-

I was blessed the day you came in my life

Took me in your arms, called me your wife

I feel that blessing again today

With you my love,

Its bliss all the way…

Today is very very special …… :) :)

And the magic has just begun

Life is oh so very divine and bright

“Awwee…I love you my jaan….!!” He said excitedly. “But what special day?? Am i forgetting anything? I hope not!!” confused but excited, he opened the door to enter inside. There was complete darkness in the whole lobby. But there was light. He saw rose petals sprinkled all the way from the entrance to a table.

The trail of roses adorned on the sides by candles and diyaas. He removed his shoes and walked on the roses laid on the way following the light to reach the table. The table was beautifully decorated with aromatic candles, petals and pearls. And in the middle was another placard in red.

When there was darkness all around

When I was lost in gloom abound

You held my hand

You said it’s all right

And suddenly, in dark

I saw a light

A light so calm

A light so bright

Taking me to a path of perpetual delight

With your magic, my love

Life smiles all the while

I breathe bliss, I live joy

Oh...You are my eternal sunshine!

“Ohh…this is so lovely!! Don’t you know my love that it’s the other way round! You have brought light in the darkness of my life….you are my light! A look at your face and it brightens up my day. Your eyes….your smile…..you are my magic light…making every moment of my life bright.” he said. He gave his biggest smile and moved further following the trail of roses and candles which led him to another room.

This one was decorated with many little balloons in different colours and shapes. In the middle of the room was a black box. He hurried to open it and found few pieces of what seemed like a jigsaw puzzle. “Wow..a puzzle! Hehe…I am good at it! Let me see what this is… This surprise is surely a big one…. I have to crack so many codes to reach there! Hehe…. Loving it! But can’t wait to see what this is!” he said excitedly. He quickly assembled pieces of the little puzzle. “Ohh my God…this is so sweet!! I love you sweetheart!” he almost cried in joy to see the puzzle take the shape of a big picture of theirs, arms in arms; all smiles. And at the bottom of the pic was another note which read-

Such was my life

Lost and complex

With scattered pieces

It was sad and perplexed

You demystified and simplified it

Found the missing links

And beautified it

You are the one who put all the pieces together

And gave me a smile to last forever!

“Ohh…I love youuu my baby!! I promise to keep that smile intact forever. I promise that no matter what, I will be there with you my jaan…every moment…at every step of life…. You are my happiness…you are my life…. I promise I will never let you shed a tear…and if the tears ever find a way through your eyes, then I will ensure that those are only tears of joy…which I know my little baby cant control! I promise you myself forever…forever!! You know it all…but still I want to say it again and again that I love you!!” he said to himself.

Following the light, he then reached another lobby which was decorated with different colours forming a big rangoli, at the centre of which was a glass bowl full of water with rose petals floating over it.

He carefully reached the centre and gently touched the water. He then saw a little heart floating alongside the roses. It read –

Like the ripples in the water

A touch of yours has stirred my soul

I feel your touch every moment

You complete me, you make me whole!

“Ohh…!! I am yours my love…and you are mine. My heart, my soul, my life. But where are you?? I want you here!! I want to hug you tight!! I want you here with me!!” he cried. Almost instinctively, his hands reached his phone. He was about to call her when he saw the path laid out from there to reach their room. He quickly stepped on the roses and reached their room hoping to find her there. He could not see her there. All he saw was a box gift wrapped. On the top of it was a card which read-

I was blessed the day

God gifted you in my life

My love,

You are my most precious gift

And you have gifted me a million smiles

A life full of love

And a treasure of care

Today, God has blessed us yet again

With a gift that is beyond compare

I can’t thank you enough for this

You have given me pure bliss!!

"Ohh my God…..!!! What is it!!” he exclaimed and quickly removed the wraps and opened the box to find his gift from her. It was the most precious gift in the world. Something so special that nothing in the whole world could be compared to that. It was a moment of utmost happiness. He could not believe his eyes. He went numb for a few seconds. Tears of joy trickled down his cheeks as he saw the poster of the little chubby cute baby saying, “I am coming soooon…PAPA!!”

“Awwweeeee…ohh my God!! Ohh God, I cant believe this!! Is this true!! Ohhh…..!! Is all of this actually happening or am I wandering in my dream world!! Awwweee……!!” he shouted with ecstasy. “Where are you my jaan?? Where are you????”

“Right behind you!!” said a voice from behind. He turned back to see her standing there…blushing. Dressed in a beautiful white suit with a delicate white duppata, she looked just like an angel. Her smile reaching her gleaming eyes and her fair complexion mixed with a tint of red on her cheeks gave her that seraphic beauty. She was smiling coyly. He rushed towards her and took her into his arms and hugged her tightly. Crying and laughing together, they kept clinging to each other.

“Ohh…I love you!! You have given me everything!! I don’t have anything more to ask for in life!! I cant explain this feeling….I just cant… I feel as if I have got everything… thank you sweetheart!!” he shouted with joy. “Awwwee…I know…it is yet to sink in properly!! God has blessed us!! I just cant believe that I am living this moment of bliss!!” she cried still hugging him. “Its true its true!! Yes it is!!” he said almost jumping with joy.

Holding the photo of the baby in their arms, they then lay down on the bed weaving dreams. “So..mamma…hehe…how does that sound??” he winked. “Ahhh…heavenly!!! Papa!!” she smiled. “So mamma wants a girl or a boy??” he asked. “Both!!”she shouted back with joy. “Both??” he asked. “Yaa…you know what…I had this little dream always….I want twins…a girl and a boy!! Imagine…how wonderful will that be!!” she said, all smiles and lost in dreams. “Ohhh…and will you believe if I say that I had dreamt the same!!” he replied. “Awwweee…….i do I do!!” she smiled and hugged him again. “You know sweetheart, how this moment is like? You know how am I feeling?” he said holding her tightly. “I knowww…..” she said.

“Pure bliss!!!” they exclaimed together, and got lost in their dreams again.

P.S. This chubby cute lil one kept looking at me with so much love that I was forced to put into words a dream…. Is it sweet? Lovely? Heavenly? Magical? Or is it mad? Crazy? Silly? Hehe…opinions will vary! :D ….as for me, I live in such dreams! ;) …did I hear anyone saying crazy? Hehe…don’t hide don’t hide….coz that is what I am! :P

Mesmerizing Red

Every thing has two perfectly opposite feelings associated with it.

When you are getting drenched in the rain with your love, your life; nothing is more beautiful that than. Holding hands and just walking with your love no matter where the roads lead. Its just pure bliss.

But when its raining and your love is not by your side, then nothing is gloomier than that. Then the very same rain hurts.

Maybe the same is with Red. So when Asbah wrote about the "Sinister Red" here , then I took the other side of red and wrote about it here. Now posting that for my blog:

It was a full moon night. Amazingly beautiful. Unusually bright. The canopy of stars decorated it in a very striking manner. Like carefully decorated diyas adorning the dark roadside on a diwali night. Like a million fireflies brightening up the way of a lost traveller in the forest. Like the dazzling work delicately placed on the lehenga of a beaming bride.

She looked towards the sky and stretched her arms wide, as if gathering the entire universe into herself. She closed her eyes and a very pretty smile crawled on her lips. She could hear the melody around. The music. The rhythm of her heart beating to perfection. Their voices. A far away sound of flute. The celebration. People calling her name. Oblivious to all, she stood there. At peace with herself. Though her mind was wandering in a maze of thoughts. Beautiful thoughts. There was not a strand that was complicated. All paths were clear. And all paths led to just one destination. Him.

Her thoughts went back to the time when they had first expressed their love for each other. When they had for the first time promised each other a lifetime of bliss. When they had held each others hand for the very first time with the resolve of never leaving it ever again. When they had vowed to each other themselves, forever. It was a very similar night. The same beautiful moonlit sky. Taking the oath of their love under millions of constellations. Seeking blessing from the heavens.

Countless nights and days had passed in between. Each moment making their love even stronger. Every second personifying pure bliss. And then she was reminded of all those very special moments. Of him. Of her. Of them. And of those little handmade cards and souvenirs of love. Painted red. Those little hearts in red entangled together. Those red roses.And that look on her face whenever he told her how much he loved her, his magical voice; all the veins would then seem to empty the blood in her cheeks and she would blush. The cherries would hide in shame.

She rushed back to her room. She was getting late. It was time. Time for the realization of all her dreams. The time for which they had waited all this while. It was all so very near. So much within reach. Just a matter of moments. She let loose her hair letting the long tresses fall on her shoulders. She then turned to the mirror and started to get ready for the day of her life. Wore red lipstick. Painted her nails red. Applied light shades of red to her already red cheeks. Dressed herself in a red lehenga with ornate zari work. Covered her head with a red dupatta with delicate beads adorning the borders. Daintily wore the red glass bangles, which he had gifted to her, of the colour he loved most. She smelt her hands and cherished the henna colour of her mehndi. She looked at herself from head to toe. And knew that he would drown in her.

It was a day of liberation from all fears. A day marking the commencement of a journey of lifelong bliss. A day of the formal communion of two already united souls. The moment had finally arrived. He came. Their eyes met. There was not a need of any words. Their eyes talked. She blushed. He took her bride into his arms. They promised themselves to each other forever as they took the pious feraas tying them together for every birth to come. He then smeared vermillion onto her head. The red marking the beginning of an eternal bond. She smiled in midst of tears. He looked at her. His wife. His life.

The Last Exam!

“Merchant Banking is the most dreadful subject in the term!! No wonder we have got four holidays in that exam!! Thank God!!” these words by the biggest ghissu (padhaku) of the class were resonating in my ears as I was boarding my flight from Kerala to Delhi after comfortably enjoying ‘those’ four days in God’s own lap. “God!! You got to save me. It’s the last exam God. And after all I was in your own country!” I prayed shamelessly while searching for my seat. “Here it is…13A,B,C…come fast.” shouted my little sis. “Yours is 13B…wah kya number mila hai!” she giggled. “Damn! Ye to apshagun hai..now I wont pass in my exam!! Shit!” I laughed.

After about half an hour, I finally reluctantly opened my notes, better called ‘raddi’ by our teacher himself. I took the entire bundle of fresh crisp notes and handed them over to my sis and asked, “What do you think? Kitne kilo hogi? I don’t think its more than 2 Kg. At this rate, I’ll get just Rs. 12 for this!! Damn!” She gave me that smile which meant that’s one of the worst PJ’s I’ve ever heard and you better get down to studies. So I finally opened them, and chose to start from Unit 4 – Preference share issue, the thinnest bundle of the raddi. “Damn! I can’t understand this crap! Not even a word! Shit!” I said. “Why? Class mein kya karti thi?” My sis asked. All that time pass, chatting, gossiping, blogging, writing stories and poems, sleeping, day dreaming etc came running to my mind. “Umm…it’s a tough subject actually!” I replied and got back to studying with full concentration which lasted maximum 10 minutes and I soon dozed off only to wake up at the time of the meal and finally at 7.30 pm when the flight reached Delhi.

“I am not going home!!” I declared. “What??” everyone asked in unison. “I mean, just drop me at Megha’s flat. She’s the only one who can teach me something...something such that I at least pass in the exam!” I said nervously. Everyone was too tired to argue, and hence I got permission without any hassle. It was around 10 when I knocked her door. “Oyeee…shit…vaat lag gayi yaar…haven’t studied a word man!!” I said as I entered her room. “Vo sab chod…how was the trip?? And where are the pics??” she asked in excitement. “Areyyy…the trip was superb! Kerala is mast…visited everything I love…mountains, beaches, waterfalls…it was amazing!! Will give you all the details later and there are sooo many pics but don’t have them right now! Will show them later na…” I said. “But why are you looking so dead? Didn’t sleep kya? Too much syllabus kya??” I enquired. “Arey nahi…vo actually make up nahi kia na kuch bhi…that’s why! And don’t know about the syllabus, haven’t started studying yet!” she smiled. Megha was just my mirror image, shamelessly lazy and unapologetic about it too. Grades had never bothered us, all we desired were passing marks. After all, who would waste 2500 bucks on a reappear exam!! And the great minds that we were, born with the gift of gab, getting passing marks was never a big deal. But this exam was different. It was typical finance, with lots of numerical problems and none or minimal theory, and hence no scope of gab, or fatte as we called that.

The exam was scheduled at 2 pm the next day. It was around 1 in the night when we finally got down to studies. After flipping pages from almost every unit in raddi trying to figure out the important questions as per last years papers, Megha declared at around 3.30, “I am sleeping, will get up at 6 now. Goodnight sweetheart!” she winked. “Damn..kaunsi good night?? Who’s gonna teach me if you sleep now!! Come on man…it’s the last exam of our student life, lets study the whole night, if only to give respect to our MBA…what say?” I tried to persuade her. “Hawa kha…I am sleeping…study well and teach me too. Wake me up at 6 Priya. You would be awake na?” she asked. “Yup!! Sure!! I will be!! Dekh tu…Now I will teach you finance!” I replied excitedly and got back to studies. I saw the time again after a few minutes. It was 5.30 am. “Shit!! Abhi to 3.40 the!!” I washed my face and again got down to studies. After what seemed like a few seconds, I looked at the watch again. 9 am. “Damn!! No!!” I looked at Megha sleeping comfortably. I kicked her. “Get up!! Its 9!! I slept the whole night!” I shouted. We then studied till 11. After our breakfast of omelettes, we got up to get ready for college. Megha came out with a bowl of egg. “Abey..ab aur kitna khayegi?” I asked. “I am not eating it dumbo, applying on my hair yaar.” She replied. “Yahan vaat lagi padi hai and you still have time for all this crap!” I said. “Huh! Abhi to sab make up bhi karna hai. I can’t compromise on that you see, varna log kya kahenge!” she giggled. “But you please speak loudly while studying so that I can utilise the time too.” She said. “Anything for you ma’am!” I winked.

We finally reached the college at 1. It was the last exam in college and an elective for which only 30 students had opted for, hence the college wore a deserted look. By now, I was in a state of shock. I could not recall a single word and people around discussing important questions and figures added further to that. I looked at the notes and then towards Megha. “Kuch nahi aata!!” I cried. Suddenly I got a punch on my back. I turned around to see Kanu. “Wassup guys?? Kya ho rha hai???” she asked giving her biggest smile. “Playing cricket! Whose team will you join??” I replied. “Hehehe….emotional kyu ho rahi hai! So..how’s the preparation dear??” she asked. “Cant you see and judge from my face! I am dead yaar. I wont pass for sure.” I replied. “Come on…you are always in such a condition…but I haven’t seen you so tensed before. All the other times, you said the same thing with a shameless smile. Why so dead today?” she asked. “Failing in the last term can be disastrous yaar, I should have studied!” I said. “But leave that now, tell me what are you doing here? Your exams are over!” I asked. “Oh, I just came now. Bang on time to see you guys studying. Poor you guys. You still have an exam to go!! And that too merchant banking! God is indeed cruel to some! And look here, at me. I am totally free!! You understand that?? How it feels?? To be totally free!! No exam! Nothing at all to do. Nothing. Wowww!!” she said giving that wicked smile. “Abeyyy kamini! You travelled for one and a half hours from home just to come here to make us feel miserable!!” Megha shouted. “Hehehe…yeah, feels like heaven!” Kanu giggled. “Abey, its 1.30. Padhne de!! See you at 4. Then we will tell you how it feels!” I said. “Yes yes, all the best guys. Come out quickly. We’ll have fun then!” she said.

Just then we saw our MB professor coming out of the canteen. We rushed towards him. “Sirrr…please pass kar dena!!” we begged. He gave a strange smile and came towards us. “I always told you both. Study study study. Its not an easy subject. You should have asked your seniors. Many students failed last year. The numerical problems involve a lot of application. And finance is nothing without that. You should have paid attention in the class. All the best now.” He said and left. We froze. Twenty minutes to go and my mind was blank. We quickly tried to give a look to all the important topics. The thoughts of flunking started haunting me. It was the last exam of the last term of college. Failing in that would mean not only a reappear but delaying of result which could hamper my job joining. “Damn! I should have thought of that earlier. I should have studied. Its not like other terms. It’s the last term. How can I spoil my career by failing in that! Shit!!” I thought and prayed simultaneously.

It was 2 now and we were seated in the examination hall waiting for the bomb to blast. My seat was the first from the entrance to the hall. The invigilator announced, “All the best everyone. It’s the last exam of your life. Don’t create trouble for yourself by engaging in cheating.” The question paper finally landed in my shivering hands. “16 marks…you have to get 16 marks somehow!! You have to pass!!” my mind was telling me constantly. I looked at the question paper. I could not believe my eyes. It was totally unexpected. Even before I could react, I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was our MB professor. “So, pass ho jaoge??” he asked smiling. I gave him my broadest smile and exclaimed, “Yessss Sir!!! Thank you sooo much!!” It was the easiest paper I had seen not only in my MBA but in my entire student life. A dangerous finance subject with no numerical problems at all. It had ten short answer questions carrying 5 marks each out of which we had to attempt eight. I quickly made my calculations. Two marks in each would mean a straight 16. And all I had to do was fill pages with gibber. I looked around at the faces of my classmates. Every face gave a contented and happy look. I thanked God and got down to write the last exam of my life.

P.S. I obviously passed in this exam. :) ...and in all others too. Got my final term result some days back....

V-Days!

I don’t know why there is so much fuss about voting. Do we need to be told about that? No way. We all know how important voting is. I have been aware of its importance since nursery class. We always got a holiday on the V-day. And when I grew up a little, I got to know more about it. I felt jealous of elders. I just wanted to grow up quickly to be able to do something on the V-day. Go to Archies gallery and buy some cards and then….oops that was…umm…and this is…damn…. I was always bad with acronyms. But I am very clear on one thing. Voting can actually do wonders for our country. Imagine what India was when it got freedom, and look at things today. It has been possible all because my grandparents always voted religiously for the right candidates. And so do my parents, brothers and I and that explains India’s current position among the fastest developing economies.

Every citizen above 18 should definitely vote. After all, how else would you get a 50% democracy discount on designer clothes by famous designers. Even Spykar if offering goodies like mugs and wristbands imprinted with ‘I voted’ and an autograph by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Freebies are always welcomed but these autographed stuff…I don’t really like that. And that too by R.O Mehra! I didn’t like his Aks also. But hey, Rang de basanti was also by him and I liked that movie man. It left me all senti and agitated for full 15 minutes after I came out of the theatre. But still, running after autographs is so cheap, unless it’s by Shaun Pollock of course. But then if you are getting free stuff, then why not vote. If not for this, then at least for getting discounts on novels and cakes and cookies. Leading book stores and cafes are doing that. Even McD is tying up with govt to promote voting. That means more discounts. I m lovin it!

But damn…I don’t like people telling me what to do and what not. And all these film stars are hell bent on making us vote. Now that Aamir Khan, his nephew, Deepika Padukone, Asin, Abhishek etc are showing off their fingers right on our face threatening us to vote….where are the moral activists now? Such an indecent act right on national television. Damn. No…wait a minute…err…no…I think it wasn’t the middle finger. It was the index finger. Yes..it was. And it was ‘marked’ too. Oops…yes yes. Hey, so all the film stars are carrying that blue ink on their fingers, I bet it will become the latest fashion trend beating all those butterfly, angel and Om tattoos. Man…voting is the ‘in’ thing. And I can do just anything to be ‘in’. And also, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Now I don’t want to be caught by some jaago re guy offering me tea to wake me up when I am hanging out with my friends at PVR. And besides, I don’t like tea too. So it’s better to vote instead. Had he been offering fresh juice or cold coffee or chocolates, then I would have had second thoughts about voting. But now, no way. I am a responsible citizen and I will definitely vote.

I am really excited about it all. I have a long list of candidates whom I want to vote out. Yey! Hey, that’s allowed here too. Isn’t it? Or was it only at Roadies? Err…ya..damn. Now, I will have to choose out of so many. Its damn confusing man. Whom should I vote for? This multiparty system, I tell you, its just too bad. Too many choices always confuse me, whether with clothes or candidates. I think Priyanka Vadra would be a good choice, she looks cute and we share the same name after all. But then I think she is not standing in elections. Hmm…well now that Mr. Advani has started blogging, I can consider him too. Talk of blogger camaraderie. But then he is too old. Then, I will always feel jealous of Americans for having Mr. Obama. I have started admiring him even more since his cover shoot for the Washingtonian magazine. Yes he can do anything. And the first dog Bo is so adorable too. Coming back to our leaders, I can certainly consider the cute Omar Abdullah. But then cute faces are not enough. I got to think about the country too. And about issues that affect our lives. And damn, none of our leaders are talking about vital issues like the effect of strategic timeout in IPL, and the fact why Pollock is not playing for the Mumbai Indians team. I need an answer to that. My crucial vote certainly goes to the candidate who brings Pollock back.
